Gilles Roth announces action plan for sustainable finance

At the Luxembourg Sustainable Finance Forum, Gilles Roth, Minister of Finance, today announced a 10-point action plan for sustainable finance. This strategic plan will guide the Ministry’s efforts over the next five years to develop Luxembourg’s sustainable financial ecosystem.

The action plan, setting out key priorities for the Ministry, aims to strengthen Luxembourg’s role as a hub for sustainable finance and mobilize private capital for sustainability. Additionally, it seeks to develop innovative solutions for global impact investments, support talent development, and promote innovation and digitalization in sustainable finance. The plan also underlines the Minister’s commitment to go beyond green by including biodiversity, gender finance, as well as the broader social and governance dimension in the Ministry of Finance’s scope of action.

The Minister underlined: "With the power of finance, we can change our economies and our world for the better. As a leading international financial centre, Luxembourg is uniquely positioned to support these global efforts. We thus foresee a number of concrete actions and initiatives that my Ministry will implement under these 10 priority areas over the coming months and years, together with public and private stakeholders."

In his keynote address at the Sustainable Finance Forum, Minister Roth also emphasized the need to act quickly and collectively to close the funding gap to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals by 2030 and transition to net-zero, which will require efforts from both the public and private sectors.
